Downingtown Police track vehicle’s leaking fluid

It allegedly leads to teen charged with hit-and-run, underage drinking

DowningtownPD-4The Downingtown Police Department responded to a hit-and-run accident in the 300 block of West Pennsylvania Avenue on Friday, May 16, at 12:52 a.m., police said. The striking vehicle had fled the area, leaving a trail of fluid on the roadway that led to the 100 block of Wallace Avenue, police said. A vehicle operated by Richard B. Marks, 19, of Downingtown, had heavy front-end damage, police said. And while speaking with Marks, officers said he lacked body balance, had slurred speech and an odor of alcohol, police said. Marks was arrested for DUI, underage drinking, reckless driving, and accidents involving damage to unattended vehicles, police said.

On Monday, May 12, Karina Dorantes, 24, of West Chester, was arrested for DUI, said Downingtown Police. At 2:58 a.m., a vehicle was observed in a no-parking area in the 200 block of East Lancaster Avenue, police said. When officers made contact with Dorantes, the only occupant, she exhibited signs of intoxication, police said.

John C. Cairns, 45, of Downingtown, was cited for public drunkenness on Wednesday, May 14, Downingtown Police said. While in the Rite Aid Pharmacy in the 100 block of Wallace Avenue, Cairns allegedly caused a disturbance at 10:25 p.m. by harassing the employees and speaking in a loud manner, police said.

Dominic J. Bailey, 44, of Coatesville, was charged with retail theft on Sunday, May 11, Downingtown Police said. Bailey allegedly entered Wegmans supermarket in East Caln Township and removed $93.18 of merchandise from the store without paying for it, police said.

On Saturday, May 10, at 8:40 p.m., Paul B. Nichols, 41, of Downingtown, was cited for public drunkenness after Downingtown Police said they found him lying on the ground in the 100 block of East Lancaster Avenue. Nicholas was unsteady on his feet and exuded a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage, police said.
