Downingtown man cited after police return for second complaint

Image 2Kar’ron Jamal Smith, 18, of Downingtown, was cited for disorderly conduct at his apartment on Campbell Circle in East Caln Township after midnight on Thursday, March 6, Downingtown Police said.   Officers received a noise complaint at 11:30 p.m., and upon their arrival, the party broke up and Smith was given a warning, police said.  Within an hour, another complaint was received, the officers returned, the party was dispersed, and Smith was cited, police said.

Amin Edward Garnett, 28, of Honey Brook, was observed walking down the street in the 100 block of Brandywine Avenue, shortly after 3 a.m. on Friday, March 7, Downingtown Police said.  He was stumbling, slamming signs, and swerving from side to side, police said. When asked to stop, Garnett fled; officers searched the area and located him in the 100 block of East Lancaster Avenue, police said, adding that he was charged with public drunkenness. 

A 4:18 a.m. traffic stop on Sunday, March 2, at Copeland School Road and Rt. 322 in East Bradford Township, led to a drunken-driving arrest, said state police from the Embreeville barracks. Police said Ryan W. Datz, 24, of West Chester, was found to be impaired while operating his 2006 black Nissan Xterra.

State police said they are investigating a criminal-trespass complaint in West Bradford Township. Police said someone entered the Embreeville complex in the 1800 block of West Strasburg Road with a motor vehicle sometime from 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 5, to 7:45 a.m. on Thursday, March 6. Anyone with information is asked to call the barracks at 610-486-6280.

A teen from West Chester driving a 2011 Mitsubishi Outlander was cited for following too closing and causing a three-vehicle pileup on Thursday, March 6, at 7:40 a.m. Police said the 17-year-old, who was not identified because of his age, was traveling east on Rt. 322 at Hall Road in West Bradford Township and rear-ended a 2002 Honda Civic stopped for a red light, an impact that caused the Honda to strike a 2011 GMC Sierra. Both occupants of the Honda sustained minor injuries, police said, adding that all parties involved were wearing seat belts.

State troopers are also investigating a residential burglary in the 1400 block of Glenside Road in West Bradford Township, police said. Sometime between noon on Feb. 7 to 3 p.m. on Feb. 11, someone entered an unoccupied home through an unlocked door and stole two checkbooks and $100 in cash, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 610-486-6280.

State troopers from the Embreeville barracks initiated a traffic stop of a 1996 tan Chevrolet Lumina after observing erratic driving on West Lincoln Highway, east of Rt. 10, in Sadsbury Township on Feb. 26 at 12:27 a.m., state police said. Frantz J. Nielsen, 28, of Downingtown, was subsequently arrested for driving under the influence, state police said.

On Monday, March 3, at 8:27 a.m., troopers from the Embreeville barracks investigated a one-vehicle crash in West Bradford Township, state police said. Police said Josephine A. Awuyah, 53, of Coatesville, was traveling west on Shadyside Road, east of Crestmont Drive, when she lost control of her 2003 Nissan Murano and crossed the eastbound lane, state police said. The Murano then struck an embankment and overturned, state police said. Awuyah, who was extricated by a witness, was wearing a seatbelt and suffered minor injury, state police said. She was cited for driving in the wrong lane and transported to Chester County Hospital for evaluation, police said.
