WEST BRANDYWINE — Authorities are trying to determine why a man gunned down his estranged girl friend and then shot himself to death Monday night at the Brandywine YMCA.
Jacinda Miller, authorities, a fitness instructor at the YMCA, was shot by Dennis Cassel as she arrived at work, shortly before 6 p.m.. According to authorities, after shooting the mother of two, Cassel told a bystander to call 911. When local police arrived on the scene, Cassel, 42, was kneeling over Miller’s body and reportedly shot himself.
Both were transported to Brandywine Hospital, but died from their wounds.
The YMCA was placed on lockdown during the incident and subsequent investigation and was closed Tuesday. No other injuries were reported and police continue to investigate the incident.
