West Whiteland Police say West Chester man drunk and harassing others

Image 2On Friday, April 18, officers from the West Whiteland Township Police Department responded to the Brickette Lounge for a report of a disturbance, police said. Police said Edward Rementer, 56, of West Chester, was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after he harassed other customers. Rementer was released to a relative, police said customers.

Officers from the West Whiteland Township Police Department responded to the Boscov’s store at the Exton Square Mall for a theft report on Friday, April 18. Upon arrival, officers were advised that Aliysha Smith, 21, of Coatesville, and two juveniles, who were not identified because of their age, had stolen $441 worth of merchandise, police said. A small amount of suspected marijuana was recovered from Smith when she was placed into custody, police said.Smith was charged with retail theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and possession of marijuana, police said. She was released on a criminal summons, and the other two subjects were charged as juveniles, police said.

On Friday, April 18, a West Whiteland officer investigated the theft of a cell phone from an office at the Church of Christ on Wednesday, April 16.An investigation determined that a subject, later identified as Curtis Idol, 51, attempted to sell the stolen cell phone, valued at $400, to a pawn shop in Coatesville. Idol, who has no known address, has been charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, said police, who are attempting to locate him.

On Tuesday, April 22, officers from the West Whiteland Township Police Department responded to the Boscov’s store for a theft complaint, police said. Upon arrival, officers were advised that two subjects were responsible for separate thefts.Karissa Maldonado, 22, of Coatesville, was charged with summary retail theft after allegedly stealing $111 worth of merchandise. And Nashae Mallard, 22, of Coatesville was charged with misdemeanor retail theft and receiving stolen property for allegedly stealing $130 worth of items.

On Jan. 29, West Whiteland officers responded to a one- vehicle crash on Pottstown Pike in the area of Luther Lane, police said. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the driver, Susan Turner, 58, of Oxford, who was transported to Paoli Memorial Hospital for treatment, police said. Blood tests later determined that Turner was legally intoxicated at the time of the crash, police said. Turner was charged with DUI and traffic offenses related to the crash, police said.

On Tuesday, April 8, officers from the West Whiteland Township Police Department were dispatched to Appetites on Main restaurant for a reported assault. Officers determined that there had been some type of physical confrontation between three subjects, police said. Alan Redmond, 31, of Downingtown, and Jason Jordan, 31, of West Chester, were each charged with disorderly conduct; and Alec Kerschner, 29, of Downingtown, was charged with public drunkenness, police said.

On April 14, officers from the West Whiteland Township Police Department responded to the Boscov’s store at the Exton Square Mall for a report of a possible theft. Police said Brittany Greenly, 22, of Coatesville, removed items from an employee’s pocketbook, including two $25 gift cards, $7 in cash, and her driver’s license. Greenly was charged with theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property, West Whiteland police said.

State police from the Embreevile barracks said they were conducing an investigation in the 1600 block of Strasburg Road in West Bradford Township on Friday, April 18, at 5:25 p.m. when they received consent to search a 1999 Ford Explorer. After troopers found a small amount of marijuana, suspected oxycodone pills, and drug paraphernalia, the vehicle’s owner, Austin A. Toblemann, 24, of Thorndale, was arrested and charged with drug offenses, state police said.

A 21-year-old West Chester woman was cited for following too closely after she rear-ended a 2012 Nissan Altima on Friday, April 18, said state police from the Embreeville barracks. Police said Kelsey L. Holl was traveling east in a 2008 Ford Fusion on West Strasburg Road at Telegraph Road when the crash occurred. Both drivers were wearing seat belts and suffered minor injuries while both vehicles had to be towed, police said.

State police said they are seeking information about a theft that allegedly occurred on Friday, April 18, sometime between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at a business in the 1600 block of Strasburg Road in West Bradford Township. Police said a woman had $130 taken from her office during that time. Anyone with information is asked to call the barracks at 610-486-6280.
