Downingtown Police say he threw Thermos at another vehicle

DowningtownPD-4On Tuesday, April 15, at approximately 3 p.m. in the 100 block of Quarry Road in East Caln Township, Downingtown Police said Michael J. Belsito, 37, of Doylestown was involved in a road rage incident after forcing his way into a lane of traffic. Once he switched lanes, Belsito threw a Thermos out of his vehicle, striking the vehicle directly behind him. A passenger of the struck vehicle exited the vehicle to check for damage at which time Belsito exited his vehicle and engaged in a physical altercation, police said.

Belsito was charged with simple assault, disorderly conduct, propulsion of missiles onto the roadway, traffic violations and related offenses, police said. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 21, according to court records.

Sometime overnight on Monday, April 21, a table valued at $1,500 was removed from the porch of a residence in the 200 block of Brandywine Avenue, Downingtown Police said. The table was secured with a cable and hardware, which were also taken, police said.

On Monday, April 21, a 15-year-old male was cited for criminal trespass after entering Bishop Shanahan High School, 220 Woodbine Road, without permission, police said, adding that the teen is not a student at the school.

Downingtown Police are investigating an incident of criminal mischief that occurred on Saturday, April 19. Police said someone poured some type of liquid paint/solvent on a vehicle that was parked in the lot of the Caln East Apartments in East Caln Township.

Two male juveniles, ages 16 and 17, were arrested for possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness on Saturday, April 19, at 5:20 p.m., Downingtown Police said. Officers conducting an investigation in the 100 block of Madison Way in East Caln Township observed the teens in a parked vehicle, police said. Upon making contact with the subjects, police said the driver was holding a clear plastic bag containing a green leafy substance giving the appearance and odor of marijuana; a glass pipe was also viewed in the vehicle.

Downingtown Police said they cited Jeffrey E. Sharpe, 59, of Coatesville, for retail theft on Sunday, April 20. Police said Sharpe entered Wegman’s Market, 1056 E. Lancaster Ave., in East Caln Township, and proceeded to the Café, where he consumed $16.16 of alcoholic beverages and food without paying for the items.

On Friday, April 18, sometime between 5:45 and 6:45 p.m., an unknown person(s) entered a parked vehicle in the lot of Kardon Park on Pennsylvania Avenue in Downingtown by breaking a window and removed a purse containing miscellaneous personal items, Downingtown Police said.

Elizabeth A. Riggins, 33 of Downingtown, was cited for retail theft and public drunkenness on Friday, April 18, at the Rite Aid Pharmacy in the 100 block of Wallace Avenue, Downingtown Police said. Riggins placed numerous items valued at $116. 18 in a baby stroller and concealed them with a jacket in an attempt to exit the store without paying for them, police said. When contact was made with Riggins, she was disoriented and had difficulty maintaining her balance, police said.

On Tuesday, April 22, Downingtown Police said they cited Daniel E. Storbrauck, 29, of Downingtown, for retail theft. Storbrauck entered the Wawa in the 100 block of Wallace Avenue and removed two energy drinks valued at $4.22 without paying for them, police said.
