West Whiteland Police say they also took her mother into custody on retail-theft warrant

wwpd patchOn Friday, Feb. 28, West Whiteland officers responded to the Boscov’s store at the Exton Square Mall for a retail theft complaint, police said. The store reported that a female had stolen $300 worth of merchandise and left the premises; patrol officers located the suspect, identified as Danye McMullen, 30, of Coatesville, inside the mall and took her into custody, police said. McMullen was charged with misdemeanor retail theft and receiving stolen property and then released on a criminal summons, police said. Her mother, Gwendolyn McMullen, 49, of Coatesville, who was with her daughter at the time, was taken into custody on a retail theft warrant, arraigned on the charges filed by the West Whiteland Police Department, and transported to Chester County Prison after failing to post $10,000 cash bail, police said.

On Thursday, Feb. 27, an officer from the West Whiteland Township Police Department responded to the Spencer’s store at the Exton Square Mall for an alleged retail theft, police said. The officer was advised that Justina McWilliams, 20, of Pottstown, had stolen $10 worth of merchandise from the store; McWilliams was charged with summary retail theft and released, police said.

On Friday, Feb. 28, an officer from the West Whiteland Township Police Department responded to the Spencer’s store at the Exton Square Mall for a retail theft. The officer was advised that Sydney Brackin, 18, of West Grove, had stolen $9 worth of merchandise from the store, police said. Brackin was charged with summary retail theft and released, police said.
