February’s picks for the must-have items

KellyColumn415Newest815Yes, I realize that it is SuperBowl Sunday (yawn) and that Valentine’s Day is just around the corner (as an aside, I am all for my sweetheart surprising me with a gift if he wants to) but this month’s Super Six isn’t consumed by either of these events. Instead, I am simply writing about the subjects on my mind as the snow melts and the Groundhog assures us that Spring is coming…

  • Zoolander 2: While this film is not likely to be nominated for an Academy Award, it does not deter me from wanting to see it in the theater when it comes out on February 12th. Just watching the trailer on TV makes me laugh. The cast is amazing. Who else is anxious for this one?
  • HUGE sale at No.109 Shop: I feel it is my civic duty to alert you as to incredible bargains on beautiful fashions happening right here in our neighborhood. Not only will you be swooning over the new arrivals in the store, but there is a rack of sale items priced at $50 and another rack at $100 of gorgeous couture! I may, or may not, have purchased a few things. So, hurry before I go back for more. And, don’t miss the Valentine Event on Thursday, February 11th from 57pm! 109 W. State Street, Kennett Square.
  • February-Super-Six-2016“Don’t Rest In Peace” : I am not the only writer in my family (I use the word “writer” very loosely when referring to myself). My father has published a self help book designed to foster a healthy approach to lifestyle change! Readers are empowered to choose from six health sectors most important to them.My father practices what he preaches…and if you are a member of the Kennett Y and have seen him on the elliptical for over an hour every day, you know it’s true! • Tasty Recipes: Have you followed “Tasty” on Facebook, yet? Because, if you haven’t, you really should. Not only are the meals easy and delicious (definitely not low fat) but they are videotaped in a stepbystep fashion perfect for less than enthusiastic chefs, like myself. I prefer recipes with minimal ingredients requiring normal, everyday, cooking utensils. I am not going to make a panini in a $500 panini maker no matter how yummy it looks. I want to dump spaghetti sauce into a dish and create something fabulous in 30 minutes or less. Is that too much to ask? Well, somehow Tasty figured out a way to entice me into whipping up some new dishes on a weeknight….so, it’s worth checking out.
  • The Classic Diner: My husband and I are always on the lookout for little BYOB restaurants in our area. Did you know that starting February 19th, the Classic Diner in West Chester will be serving dinner on Friday and Saturday nights from 5-9pm? Can’t wait to try it. 16 E. Gay Street, West Chester.
  • Butter Drench Restorative Rich Cream: This hydrating cream by Bare Minerals promises to rejuvenate dry to super dry skin. In the winter months, I cannot put on enough product in an attempt to keep my skin from feeling chapped and raw. Bloggers everywhere are touting this lotion as their top pick. Lucky for us, Houppette Boutique on State Street in Kennett Square carries this line! Grabbing one for myself and hoping that the remainder of the winter will be much more comfortable. 101 W. State Street, Kennett Square.

There you have it! Six wonderful things to add to our evergrowing list of “musthaves”. What are you loving lately? Please, share in the comment section below!

Happy Weekend!
