COATESVILLE — The Coatesville Hall of Fame will induct nine new members during its annual dinner on Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Coatesville Country Club.
Beside the individual inductees, the 1977 state champion boys’ track team will receive special recognition for its accomplishment.

This year’s Old Timers Award goes to Robert L. Pearl, class of 1935. He participated in five sports and was known as an “athletes’ athlete.” Bob, also known as “Reds,” starred in each sport and accumulated 13 varsity letters, including four each in football and basketball, three in track & field and one each in baseball and tennis.
The “Mac” Stuber Memorial Award for special contributions to Coatesville athletics will be presented to William Gaugler, Jr. Gaugler taught and coached in the Coatesville Area School District for decades. He coached football, basketball and baseball at many levels, mentoring thousands of Coatesville athletes.

Jim Brooks, Jr. completed a difficult combination in track & field by winning three gold medals in the 1983 PIAA AAA State Championship Meet. He won the 1600 meters, the 800 meters and anchored the winning 4 x 800 relay. No other runner has accomplished this feat in the history of the PIAA. He finished his scholastic career at the Golden West Invitational in Sacramento, California, where he set a state record in the 800 meters with a time of 1:50.2.
Kyle Dawson is one of the all-time great cross country athletes in Coatesville High School history. During Dawson’s senior year he finished third in the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association Championship Meet, leading the Red Raiders to a team championship and a state record score of 26 points. He finished eighth individually in the 2006 Nike Team Nationals in Beverton, Oregon, where Coatesville Area Senior High School won the Team National Championship competing as Bridgetown.
Scott R. Flinn, class of 1977, gained notoriety as a full back, running back and defensive back on the football team. Flinn was the recipient of the 1976 Valley Forge Chapter 1777 Military Order of the Purple Heart Outstanding Offensive Player in the Ches-Mont League. He was selected to participate in the 1977 Big 33 football game, starting for Pennsylvania as a defensive back and returning kickoffs.
Tayvon L. Gray, class of 2005, was a track & field state champion and also a multiple district and Ches-Mont League champion.
Jeff Hoffman, class of 1967, was a point guard on the Coatesville Ches-Mont championship basketball team in 1967. Hoffman was first team all Ches-Mont and third team all District One.
Cinde L. Sherota-Spencer, class of 1973, was a three-year member of the varsity swim team. She was the school record holder in four individual events. Her career was capped off by finishing third in the 50 yard freestyle and sixth in the 100 yard freestyle at the District One Championship Meet. At the State PIAA AAA Championship Meet she medaled by finishing sixth in the 50 yard freestyle.
Glenn Woolard, class of 1999, was undefeated (8-0) as a pitcher during his junior season and recorded a Coatesville High School all-time best of 11 victories in a season when he was a senior. During his two years of varsity play, Woolard helped anchor an outstanding pitching staff that earned Coatesville consecutive District 1 Class AAAA titles and a trip to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) Championship game in 1998.
