DOWNINGTOWN — A very mild earthquake, registering just 2.7 on the Richter scale, was recorded just east and south of the borough and immediate surrounding area Sunday evening, according to the US Geological Survey.
Although the quake was mild, happening just after 6:30 p.m., there were reports of it being felt as far away as Exton and West Chester. No injuries or damage was reported.
Sunday night’s quake was much weaker than the Aug., 2011 5.7 quake that could be felt up and down the eastern seaboard and caused minor damage across the region.
