GoodStuff‘Note’worthy…Congratulations to Coatesville Area Senior High artist Alicia Fierro.  Alicia’s design was selected for the Coatesville Area Schood District’s annual holiday card.

Fashionista Alert...Chester County mom & entrepreneur Heather Robitzer is bringing ‘109’ to historic Kennett…’109’ will be the Borough’s latest chic boutique.  Grand opening planned for January 9 thIn the spotlight, BIG time...Chester County mom & entrepreneur, Jen Opdahl’s beautiful Power Beads – are now being sold at the exclusive Warren Tricomi Salon & Boutique – Plaza Hotel, NYC.

Waffles, Hoagies and Robots…OH My! Downingtown West High School students designed, built and programmed two working robots…one can bake perfect waffles; and the other, can offer you a hoagie complete with meat, cheese, and toppings. This super-cool project was supervised by Professor Gavin Speirs and his students in the Project Lead the Way Engineering Program.

Follow THIS ‘ACT’… Bayard Rustin High School student, Milan Roberson, earned the highest possible composite score of 36 on a recent ACT test.  On average, less than one-tenth of one percent of students who take the ACT earns the top score annually.

‘Power’ – Puff Fun with a Cause…  The Unionville High School Student Council held a Juniors vs. Seniors powder-puff football game.  Student Council VP, Hannah Bass, suggested that students add a donation box to raise money for area children in need which raised more than $700 raised to purchase gifts for six children from the Kennett-Area YMCA Angel Tree program.

Pottery Panache…Kennett High School’s Annual Holiday Pottery sale this Thursday, December 18th, 8:00 a.m. -2:00 p.m. in the KHS lobby.  Prices are only $5-$30. Proceeds benefit KHS ceramic department…it’s not too late to find the perfect unique & affordable gift!

Pajama Time…way to go Bancroft Elementary – KSQ, on your 4th annual ‘pajama drive’! The Bancroft school community has donated more than 600 articles of sleepwear to local neighborhood centers, hospitals and shelters.  2014 goal is 200 articles; campaign closes this Friday, December 19th…there’s still time to donate!

Showcased… Artwork created by students within the West Chester Area School District is now on display inside a special gallery at the Exton Square Mall. The gallery is open on Fridays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. , Saturdays & Sundays from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. through December 21.

Hometown send-off122 musicians & 32 color guard members from 38 area high schools who comprise the Calvacade of Bands Honors Band will provide a sneak-peek of their Tournament of Roses Parade & Field Show performance.  Stop by Unionville High School Stadium this Saturday, December 20th – 3:30 p.m.to give these hard-working students a big send-off for next week’s exciting departure to Pasadena.

Patriots...Lionville Middle School Patriot Club students: Kaleena Czajkowski, Lily Benko, JD DeMarco, Sophia Corrigan, Faythe Hinovsky, Hannah Gilbert, Felicite Gilbert and Kayla Powell and three LMS teachers: Susan Mousley, Rachel Immel and Lauren Wardrop recently volunteered their Sunday to provide holiday meals for area homeless veterans.

Making Magic…Bishop Shanahan’s Community Service Corps participated in the Holy Family/Christmas Child Program run by the Saint Agnes Parish Outreach in West Chester.  Each of the 36 homerooms was assigned a child; additional children were provided for by extracurricular clubs, faculty and staff.  With their donated money, Shanhan students purchased, wrapped and delivered gifts to St. Agnes last week.

Good Intentions…Congratulations to Avon Grove High’s Carlie Perkins and Stephen Cyron for recently signing letters of intent to North Carolina State and Robert Morris University, respectively.  Perkins, team captain and star diver for the AG diving squad, and Cyron a top-scorer for AG’s varsity lacrosse team were both recognized for outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments during the recent ceremony.

Standing Proud… Twelve members of Bishop Shanahan High School’s football team have received All-Star honors from the ChesMont League:  Nick Pasvanis, Jeff Zebrowski, Dan Murphy, Matt Evans, Pat Corcoran, Doug Costin, Cody Smith, Jerry Riccardo, Greg Rankin, Michael Sprague, Jake Geiger, and Kevin Stein… Senior  – Daniel Lindstrom has been recognized by the Ches-Mont League as an ‘Academic All-Star’ for his excellent GPA and his participation on the football team.
