Monday morning, the Kennett Square Rotary announced its closure after 75 years.
Here is the formal statement:
“With pride and sadness, we announce our closure after 75 years of dedicated service to the community.
“Chartered in 1949, the Rotary Club of Kennett Square is the first and longest-standing Rotary club in Kennett Square. Since our inception, we have fostered two other local clubs. Among our proudest accomplishments was the establishment of The Kennett Run, a beloved annual event that has brought together runners and supporters from all walks of life, and the creation of the Kennett Area Senior Center, which has provided invaluable resources and a sense of community for senior citizens.
“We have supported many local not-for-profit organizations throughout the area, performed many service projects, and most recently hosted epic parties, such as Kennett on Top, a successful fundraiser high atop the Kennett garage roof.
“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all community partners and fellow Rotarians who have supported and collaborated with us.
“We hope the spirit of service and love we have fostered will continue to thrive in the community.
“We encourage everyone to carry forward the legacy of compassion, dedication, service above self, and community engagement that has defined our club. We want to thank you for 75 wonderful years, wish you all the best, and look forward to seeing the continued positive impact in Kennett Square.”
