Awarding-winng Mummers to be featured in West Chester Christmas Parade

The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is announcing an all-star lineup of marching bands for the 2024 West Chester Christmas Parade sponsored by Chester County Hospital, as the borough caps off its 225th anniversary year during the parade voted “Best Local Parade” and “Best Family-Friendly Event” by readers of Main Line Today.

“Save yourself a trip into the city when the South Philadelphia String Band, who took first place at the 2024 Mummers Parade, joins a dozen local marching bands at the West Chester Christmas Parade this year on December 6th,” said Katie Walker, President of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce. “If you attend only one hometown Christmas Parade this year, this is the one you don’t want to miss!”

The West Chester Christmas Parade title sponsored by Chester County Hospital attracts approximately 20,000 attendees – including Santa in the grand finale. The region’s popular hometown Christmas parade is on December 6, 2024 and highlights a month full of holiday festivities and thousands of lights during Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends in West Chester. In addition to the South Philadelphia String Band’s award-winning performance, sponsored by The Master’s Baker as well as Weldon Builders, this year’s marching bands include:

  • Downingtown High School Combined Marching Bands
  • Easton Area High School Red Rover Marching Band
  • Exeter Township Senior High School Marching Band
  • Henderson High School Marching Warriors
  • Octorara High School Band
  • Oxford Marching Hornets
  • Rustin Golden Knights Marching Band
  • Saint Mark’s High School Marching Band
  • Twin Valley High School Marching Band
  • West Chester East Viking Marching Band
  • West Chester University Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band

The high school marching bands will compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place cash prizes. The 2024 West Chester Christmas Parade will also hold an all-new competition for “Best Commercial Parade Float” and “Best Nonprofit Parade Entry.”

Parade night kicks off December 6, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. with the official lighting of West Chester’s stunning 25-foot-tall Christmas tree on the lawn of the Historic Chester County Courthouse and live musical performances. The holiday parade begins at 7 p.m.

This year’s Christmas tree sponsor is Lasko Products, LLC, Santa’s float sponsors are Lamb McErlane PC and Treehouse World, VIP area sponsor is COCOON, special sponsor is PECO, print sponsor is Blue Dog Printing & Design, parade support sponsors are A.J.
