The Kennett Consolidated School District (KCSD) has begun a search for its next Superintendent. After four years of dedicated service to the Kennett Consolidated School District, Dr. Dusty Blakey recently announced his retirement effective July 26, 2024.
Dr. Blakey expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the Kennett community, stating, “It has been an honor to work alongside such dedicated educators, staff, and families. Together, we have accomplished remarkable achievements and milestones, and I am confident that the district will continue to thrive under new leadership.”
The Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) has been entrusted with facilitating the search for the next Superintendent of the Kennett Consolidated School District. The KCSD Board of School Directors approved the contract with the CCIU during the March School Board meeting. The CCIU does not charge Chester County school districts for this service.
The search process will commence immediately, with the aim of identifying a qualified and visionary leader who will build upon the district’s successes and uphold its commitment to excellence in education.
Opportunities for input from families, staff, students and the community will be an integral part of the search process. The CCIU will be hosting community forums, surveys, and stakeholder meetings to gather valuable insights and perspectives on the desired qualities and priorities for the next Superintendent. Information on each of these opportunities will be forthcoming.
“We recognize the importance of engaging our community in this significant decision,” said KCSD School Board President, Mr. David Kronenberg. “Input from all stakeholders will be carefully considered as we seek to identify a leader who will continue to advance the mission and values of the Kennett Consolidated School District.”
The timeline for the search process includes:
- March 15, 2024: Job posting opens.
- Early April: Focus Groups; Surveys
- April 15, 2024: Job posting closes; Application review.
- April 15 -May 15: Candidate screening and interviews; Selection process.
- Late May: Board Approval/Announcement of the new Superintendent.
The job posting for the Kennett Consolidated School District Superintendent position has been officially posted on the CCIU website and will remain open for applications until April 15, 2024.
