WESTTOWN — Downingtown East controlled Ches-Mont American power West Chester Rustin, Friday, powering to a 28-12 win overly previously the previously undefeated Knights — who had a 16-game regular season win streak snapped.
Coming off a tough loss last week to Haverford, the Cougars (3-1) used dominant defense— including a key stop inside their own 10 to thwart a Rustin drive in the final quarter. They also got a strong running game from Keith Conner, who rushed for 128 yards and Jack Kincade, who ran for 70 yards and TD, while quarterback Andrew Hudson passed for 161 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Trailing 12-7, East took the lead for good in the second quarter on a scoring pass from Hudson to Ben Davis, and never trailed again.
