Rodney W. Kitchen, age 92, of Bloomsburg,Pa. passed away Tuesday, November 1, 2022,

He was born  September 30, 1930 in Bloomsburg,the son of the late Woodrow W. and Sara V. (Law) Kitchen.He was a proud Navy Veteran. He served as a radioman on the DD-776 USS James C. Owens during the Korean War. He was a Coatesville Police Officer from the 1960’s through 1981 when he retired to Millville Pa. with wife Marcia Joan Keefer Kitchen,(now deceased).He worked as maintenance man at McDonald’s in Danville Pa for over 20 years. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Chester County, Moose-Danville Lodge 1133, VFW and American Legion. 

Rodney was predeceased by his second  wife Marcia (Keefer) Kitchen in 1992 and his fiance Darlene K. Rupert in 2018. 

Rodney leaves behind the following children:Son:Rodney Kitchen Jr and wife Deborah and their children,Wagontown Pa,Son:Bruce Kitchen,Daughter:Susan Tracy her husband George their children Josh and Jason also April Kitchen.,Daughter:Joanne Garess and children Nicole and Charlie and their children.Daughter:Deedra K. Winey and her husband Steve of Danville,and children Jasmyn Winey ,her partner Aaron McAnnaney,and their son Carson, Zane Winey and wife Shara Donohue Daughter Julie Edwards and husband Darin of Bloomsburg and children, Collin Edwards, Mason Edwards and Wyatt Edwards, Daughter Laurie Kitchen,Son Michael Kitchen as well as two step daughters; Jennifer (Brady) Schroer of Asheville, NC and Daffney Walter of Coal Township.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Monday, November 7, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc., 745 Market at Eighth Street, Bloomsburg. 

Funeral Services will begin on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at 10:00 am at the Allen Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Michael Spagnuolo, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Elan Memorial Park, Bloomsburg with military honors provided by the combined VFW and American Legion Honor Guard. The Allen Funeral Home, Inc., is honored to be serving the Kitchen family.
