Quarterback Tyler McNulty threw for a pair of touchdowns as Downingtown East raced out to a 28-0 halftime lead over Haverford — points all scored in the second quarter —as the Whippets sent notice they will again be one of the top teams in the county and possibly southeastern Pennsylvania.
Downingtown East (1-0) completely dominated the Ford (0-1), as McNulty was nearly unstoppable throwing the ball, completing 11 of 12 passes for 215 yards in the game.
Jake Barr put the Whippets up for good early in the second quarter, rushing from three-yards out. After a turnover, McNulty hit Barr with a 33-yard scoring pass — as the game went from scoreless to a 14-0 margin in the first minute of the second quarter.
