DOWNINGTOWN — The annual 5K Dash of the Living Dead race will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 2 p.m. before Downingtown’s Halloween Parade.
“This is a fun family event that benefits the community,” said organization President Adrian Martinez. “We’ll hoping Kerr Park is filled with those wanting to get a little exercise before watching the borough’s parade.”
The course will be the same as last year, Pennsylvania Avenue to Aston Avenue and back through Kerr Park before continuing on the path to Johnsontown and then pack to the park to the finish, according to Autumn Katzenmoyer, event organizer and DMSA member.
“The race is zombie themed and we will have a face painter available for folks,” Katzenmoyer said. “There will also be prizes for men and women runners winning in different age group brackets and best man and woman zombie.”
To register for the race, go to: https://www.runtheday.com/registration/race_info/27257. The cost of the race is $35 if pre-registered and $40 if registration takes place the day of the race. Entrants will receive a T-shirt and entrance to the Un-Dead After Party. The party will include food and refreshments from Victory Brewing Company, one of the sponsors of the event.
Proceeds of the race will benefit the borough. Downingtown Main Street Association was incorporated in 1993 with the purpose of enhancing the borough by bringing citizens, residents, property owners, business owners, and the private sector together to build a bright future.
