Chesco Dems rip Mastriano event falsely claiming 2020 election fraud

On Tuesday, Chester County’s Democrats laced into state Sen. Doug Mastriano, who plans a Chesterbrook event this week built around the Big Lie — that Donald Trump won the 2020 election, which multiple real audits have shown to be untrue — a claim fraudulently pushed by he and others in the state and local Republican Party.

Mastriano has pushed for bogus vote “fraudits” in various states, including Pennsylvania and has repeatedly lied about vote counts in the commonwealth — suggesting that former President Donald Trump won. Trump lost Pennsylvania by about 80,000 votes and was swamped in Chester County — a former GOP stronghold — by more than 17% by current President Joe Biden.

Chester County Democratic Committee Chair Charlotte Valyo issued the following statement in advance of Mastriano’s misguided, embarrassing “election integrity” appearance scheduled for tomorrow in Chesterbrook:

“How many times does President Joe Biden need to be declared the winner of the 2020 Presidential Election for this dangerous rhetoric to stop? We are less than a month away from the next election where real issues that truly impact the everyday lives of Pennsylvanians are on the ballot, yet Republicans continue to waste taxpayer money spreading lies and conspiracy theories.”

Mastriano also attended the Jan. 6 pre-insurrection rally — and posted photos of himself on Facebook — and apparently funded busloads of people, some of whom appear to have entered the US Capitol during a violent attempt to stop Congress from certifying the 2020 election. Mastriano appears to have conspired with Trump and campaign officials to concoct fake accounts of voting issues, despite knowing they did not occur, according the numerous published reports.

“This cult-like devotion to former President Trump and his ‘Big Lie’ has already led to one insurrection and continues to chip away at the very foundation of our democracy. Recount after recount has confirmed the election and confirmed that our elections are secure. They were secure in 2020 when President Biden soundly defeated former President Trump and they are secure today. Despite Republicans spending millions of dollars searching for some semblance of fraud, the only confirmed cases of illegality in Pennsylvania were among voters supporting Donald Trump.”

“It is time for Sen. Mastriano to give up on this baseless, wasteful, undemocratic inquisition. I call on him to cancel this shameful event and go back to doing the job he was elected by his constituents to do, not the bidding of Donald Trump and his co-conspirators from the January 6th insurrection.”
