WEST CHESTER — Chester County Commissioners presented the Schuylkill River Heritage Area with a check for $10,000 at this week’s Commissioners’ meeting, as well as a citation to the organization for its efforts in achieving the Pennsylvania River of the Year award for the Schuylkill River.
The check is part of Chester County’s annual appropriations to organizations and non-profits throughout the county.
Kurt Zwikl, Executive Director of the Schuylkill River Heritage Area, accepted the citation and check, thanking the Commissioners for the contribution which will help continue the organization’s work preserving and protecting the Schuylkill River’s historic, recreational, environmental and cultural resources.
The 128-mile stretch of the Schuylkill River runs from the anthracite mining region of Schuylkill County to its confluence with the Delaware River in Philadelphia and includes 26 miles through Chester County.
