WEST GROVE – On Saturday, May 16, more than 70 Avon Grove School District (AGSD) staff members, board members and administrators decorated their vehicles and drove through District neighborhoods in a “car parade” to celebrate the class of 2020.
Groups gathered in the parking lot of Avon Grove High School (AGHS) at 9:00 a.m. to adorn their vehicles with balloons, signs and streamers, and to obtain parade routes for the occasion. With horns beeping, the car parades proceeded in all directions. The District surprised each student with a visit to their home and successfully delivered lawn signs to all 431 graduates.
This event is just one of the many festivities that the AGSD staff and administration have planned to honor and recognize each of the District’s graduating seniors. Preparations for a virtual graduation ceremony have commenced, and caps and gowns were distributed for a personalized “walking the stage” ceremony at AGHS.
The virtual ceremony will also include recordings of speeches from our high school administrators and students, recognition of our seniors entering the military, the traditional changing of the guard for class officers and a special turn of the tassel. The full version of the virtual graduation ceremony for the AGHS class of 2020 will be available for viewing on June 8 at 7:00 p.m. on the AGSD website at https://www.avongrove.org/agtv/commencement.
