Rt. 322 to see lane closures next week

LaneclosedThe Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that there will be a single lane closure weekdays on Route 322 (Downingtown Pike) between Sugars Bridge Road and Skelp Level Road in West Bradford and East Bradford townships, Chester County, from Monday, June 23 through Friday, July 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., for bridge construction. There will be no work on Thursday and Friday, July 3-4 due to the Independence Day holiday.

During construction, traffic will be controlled by flagging. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area.

This operation is part of PennDOT’s $4,707,869 project to replace the structurally deficient bridge carrying Route 322 (Brandywine Avenue/Downingtown Pike) over Brandywine Creek. The new bridge is scheduled to open in September 2014.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
