Kids ‘4’ Kids to hold inaugural Fundraiser Walk, May 4

Kids “4” Kids, a local service organization run by students at Henderson High School and Peirce Middle School, will hold its first ever walk-a-thon on May 4 at West Goshen Park. All funds raised will support non-profit organizations that help children, and the students that make up Kids “4” Kids are asking the community to help make this their biggest fundraiser to date.

Founded in 2013 by then 9-year-old Molly Dolan of West Chester, Kids “4” Kids held a charity yard sale, with all monies raised supporting local charities. The yard sale, and the Kids “4” Kids organization itself, have grown each year since, with Kids “4” Kids chapters now established at both Peirce Middle School and Henderson High School. Since its founding, the group has raised over $10,000 to support non-profit organizations that the students themselves choose.

This year, instead of its popular yard sale fundraiser, Kids “4” Kids will be hosting a Walk-a-thon and Festival at West Goshen Park starting at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 4. Participants will walk the paved trail at West Goshen Park, enjoying food and beverages, games, raffles and more. Craft vendors will also be participating in the event, giving participants the opportunity to browse and purchase unique hand-crafted gifts.

All aspects of this inaugural walk have been organized and implemented by the student members of Kids “4” Kids, giving them firsthand experience in event planning, fundraising, donor relations, website development, marketing, and more.

Event registration is $10 per person, with students hoping entire families will come out for a fun event supporting a great cause. Pre-registration is preferred and can be completed online at www.kids-4-kids.org, but anyone is welcome to register the day of the walk at West Goshen Park. Even if not walking, the community is welcome to stop by from 10:30 AM-12:30 PM for food, games, craft vendors and raffles.

Raffle prizes at the event include items donated by many local businesses, including Iron Hill Brewery, Couch Tomato, Painting with a Twist, Longwood Gardens, Avante Salon, The Men’s Loft, Urban Air, Platinum Salon and Glow Golf.

For this year’s inaugural walk, the students of Kids “4” Kids have chosen to raise money for The Friends Association for the Care and Protection of Children, Special Olympics, and the Dax Locke Foundation. All funds raised at the walk will support these wonderful organizations. Anyone wishing to make a donation to support these organizations through Kids “4” Kids may make a donation payable to West Chester Area School District and send to Kids “4” Kids at 1084 Forest Road, West Chester, PA 19382.

In addition to its spring fundraiser, Kids “4” Kids carries out acts of service throughout the school year. Service initiatives have included cooking meals for Safe Harbor of Chester County and organizing Halloween and Easter picnics for the Friends Association for the Care and Protection of Children.

Kids “4” Kids motto is “We rise by lifting others.” Students from Kids “4” Kids are eager to see their biggest fundraiser take shape on May 4, and are counting on the community to help them – and the organizations they support – continue to lift others.
