DOWNINGTOWN — Phil Dague was officially sworn in as a member of Borough Council Wednesday night, the lone point of action in what may have been the briefest council meeting in recent memory.

Dague, who won appointment April 3 to the board to replace East Ward Council member Cara DeStefano, took the oath of office from District Justice Jeffrey J. Valocchi, in front of a council chamber full of family and friends.

Dague, who lost election in 2013 to current Council member Ann Feldman by one vote, was congratulated and praised by his new colleagues.

“You’ll be a great addition,’ Borough Council President Anthony Gazzero said. “Thank you for stepping up to the position.”

Dague, who previously had been active with the Downingtown Main Street Association, expressed his thanks.

“I’m really looking forward to rolling up my sleeves and getting to work,” he said.

After a handful of quick procedural votes, related to Dague joining the board, the meeting was adjourned.
