Whelp. All that posturing about writing meaningful content in the new year is on hold. Because, after conferencing with friends, it seems that most people hold my fashion picks in higher regard than my opinions on life. (sigh). Am I not as profound as I think I am?
Alas, I do love the excuse to shop in the name of journalism. So, I’m kicking off 2018 (a week late) with my January Super Six. The theme: “My colors are Blush and Bashful”. What movie does this line come from? If you don’t know, we can’t be friends. Think about it…and if worst comes to worst I’ll tell you at the end of the post (not without being devastated if you can’t come up with the answer, because it’s a classic).
- Anthropologie Tasseled Linen Duvet Cover – Oh, how I love this bedding. It’s the perfect shade of pale pink that looks SO darn good with grey. My husband gets a kick out of it when I try to convince him that this pick is gender neutral. He disagrees. However, the chances of us having HIS preference (a Redskins duvet cover, don’t ask)
are slim to none. I mean, there are no flowers on this bedding. That is fair game in my book. Anthropologie ain’t cheap…but this is ON SALE ! Click here http://bit.ly/2D7dpCV
- Target Madrot Glass Globe Table Lamp – Remember the book “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie”? (Again people, if I have to explain this too, I may as well just throw my hands up in the air) OK, brief snippet: if you give a mouse a cookie, he’s going to want a glass of milk with it and so on and so on. Google “hedonic treadmill”. ANYWHO. I bring this up in the hopes of a seamless segue as to why I need this bedside lamp (next to my new Anthropologie bedding). It coordinates like a dream. There’s a rose gold hue that fits effortlessly into my thematic schema and it’s sleek and modern (aka timeless). Get it here http://bit.ly/2DsO7Mq
- Lululemon Wool Be Toasty Toque – We still have a good sixty (plus) days until springtime and it seems like Mother Nature is planning on being difficult until then. SO, a blush colored pom-pom, cable knit, hat = a wardrobe staple. Treat this like a neutral. It goes with EVERYTHING. Olive? Yep. Cream? Yep. Black? Yep. Navy? Yep. See what I mean? Per-fec-tion. But, it’s not on sale. But, it’s 100% worth it. Price per wear argument in effect. Click here http://bit.ly/2m7MPl7
- Nike Sportswear Joggers – You all know by now (if you have been reading my column for a while) that I am a fan of “over dressing”. I say wear sequins to a Little League game or faux fur to Back to School Night or leather pants to Giant. You only live once. HOWEVER, the yin to my yang is that I love to change into comfy clothes the second I walk into my house at the end of the day. These joggers are amazing. AMAZING. http://bit.ly/2r3f4DF
- Abercrombie & Fitch Sherpa-Lined Cardigan – Rolling with the cozy, how fantastic is this cardigan? AND, it comes down to around $50 on winter clearance. This is the answer to comfortable and chic. I love it how it is shown here, with jeans and a basic
t-shirt. Available in a variety of colors (I was partial to this one). Click here http://bit.ly/2D1W2z2
- Laura Mercier Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick in “Ruthless” – It wouldn’t be a Super Six without a make-up pick. It’s ironic that I literally removed 17 tubes from my purse yesterday…yet, it does not deter me from wanting more. This new collection of 24 matte colors from Laura Mercier promises long-lasting wear without drying your lips. I’m obsessed with this pinkish-nude shade. They are available locally at Houppette in Greenville, DE. Visit them at 3842 Kennett Pike, Wilmington, DE 19807.
Well, there you have it. My six selections to kick off 2018 in style! And, as always, please feel free to contribute your “must-haves” in the Comment section below.
Happy Weekend! Stay warm!
P.s…it’s Steel Magnolias (now, go watch it with LOTS of tissues)
