WEST CHESTER – The Chester County Commissioners presented a check for $10,000 to Chester County Meals on Wheels Director Jeani Purcell, prior to a delivery of meals to residents in the West Chester area.

The check was part of Chester County’s annual appropriations to organizations and nonprofits throughout the county and was made during Meals on Wheels’ Community Champions week, an event that helps to raise awareness of the large number of hungry seniors in the community.

During this designated week in March, Chester County Commissioners, many of Chester County’s mayors, and other community representatives volunteer to deliver meals in areas served by the county’s Meals on Wheels chapters.

With a part-time staff of just five, but more than 600 volunteers, Meals on Wheels of Chester County served nearly 65,000 meals last year to Chester County residents over the age of 60.
