State Rep. Becky Corbin (R-155)
Rep. Becky Corbin (R-155) was recently appointed to standing committees of the Pennsylvania House for the 2017-18 session. Corbin now serves on the following committees: Judiciary, Health, Urban Affairs, and Environmental Resources and Energy.
The Judiciary Committee is tasked with reviewing legislation related to crimes and offenses, such as Corbin’s successful legislation last year that made strangulation a felony crime in the Commonwealth.
“Supporting law enforcement and working to keep Pennsylvanians safe has been one of my top legislative priorities,” said Corbin. “That’s why I am so pleased to be able to serve on the Judiciary Committee, where I can directly work on legislation in these key areas.”
The Health Committee focuses on issues such as disease management, health savings accounts, hospital-acquired infections, Medical Assistance, patient safety, pharmaceutical issues, and telemedicine.
The Urban Affairs Committee reviews legislation related to regional economic growth and job creation, as well as land use and the preservation of open space.
The Environmental Resources and Energy Committee evaluates bills and policies related to clean air and water, as well as energy production and transmission.
While she has previously served on the other committees, this will be Corbin first term on the Judiciary Committee. To the latter, she is looking forward to bringing her experience as a former police commissioner in Chester County and forensic chemist in the state crime lab in Virginia.
