\"KellyColumn415Revised\"<\/a>Summer is all about spontaneity. Getting the opportunity to escape for the weekend is a treat\u00a0that should not be missed. The key is to have an overnight bag at the ready and casually\u00a0mention to friends that you are available! When packing, here are the 10 essentials for every\u00a0fashionista\u2026<\/p>\n

1. Great pair of sunglasses Invest\u00a0in a classic pair of aviators with black lenses. Not only\u00a0will your eyes be protected from the sun, but, you\u2019ll look like a movie star, too.<\/p>\n

2. Summer clutch When\u00a0you go on vacation, leave the giant handbag at home. Carry a\u00a0fun alternative in a summery fabric (rafia is super popular) that is big enough to hold the\u00a0essentials like your phone, a few credit cards and a lip gloss.<\/p>\n

3. Linen button down blouse I\u00a0love pieces that can serve a dual purpose and this one is\u00a0it. Wear an oversized shirt to the beach as a coverup\u00a0and tie the tails into a knot with a\u00a0pair of dressy shorts for cocktails at happy hour!<\/p>\n

4. Dainty jewelry There\u00a0is nothing worse than heavy, clunky jewelry in the summer.\u00a0Retire those pieces until the cooler weather of fall. Meanwhile, layer thin strand\u00a0necklaces and delicate bangles for an easy, breezy, summertime look.<\/p>\n

5. Bright lipstick This\u00a0is a great tip. On especially hot and humid days when you do NOT\u00a0want to put on makeup,\u00a0hide your eyes behind a pair of large, dark sunglasses and add\u00a0a bold, pop of color to the lip. You will look chic and cool all at the same time.<\/p>\n

6. Ponytail\u00a0holders Stash\u00a0a pack in your bag and wear a few around your wrist, just in\u00a0case. I love the fabric versions that don\u2019t put creases in your hair and look festive\u00a0enough to be mistaken for a bracelet. Learning how to do a messy top knot is a skill\u00a0worth mastering for the summer months.<\/p>\n

7. Nude colored sandals Having\u00a0a neutral, leather shoe in your wardrobe will be a life\u00a0saver. Sometimes wearing black can look harsh in the summer months. Finding a shoe\u00a0that blends into your skin tone will enable you to wear them with any color outfit. Plus,\u00a0they elongate the leg and who doesn\u2019t want that?<\/p>\n

8. Slip dress This\u00a0is a no brainer. Pick a lightweight sundress in a solid color that you can\u00a0make look different with the addition of fun, colorful accessories. I have an old JCrew\u00a0navy strapless cotton dress that I have been wearing for years! It works every time.<\/p>\n

9. Classic bikini A\u00a0black bikini is a summer staple. I agree that shopping for bathing\u00a0suits is a nightmare, but, firmly believe it is a necessary evil when it comes to swimsuits.\u00a0You have to try a million on to find \u201cthe one\u201d. But, it is out there, I promise.<\/p>\n

10. Distressed jean shorts Not\u00a0the Daisy Duke version the teenagers are wearing, BUT, a\u00a0casual, lightly distressed jean short is the little bit of rock and roll you can get away with\u00a0on a weekend vacation! Pair with a silky tank top and wedge sandals for a night on the\u00a0town.<\/p>\n
