U.S. Army\u2019s 250th Birthday Parade &#8212; will be held in Washington D.C. on June 14. This is being met with hundreds of protests nationwide known as \u201cNo Kings Rally.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The Philadelphia edition of the \u201cNo Kings Rally\u201d is the flagship event for anti-Trump rallies across the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe on Saturday.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">High levels of energy will be on the ground and in the air in Kennett Square this weekend.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">When there are hot air balloons floating in the sky over your head, you\u2019re going to stop whatever you\u2019re doing and turn your gaze skyward.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Three things guaranteed to make you look up are helicopters, bald eagles and hot air balloons.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">If you want to experience the sensation of checking out hot air balloons in the sky above you, then you should plan on attending this weekend\u2019s Annual Chester County Balloon\u00a0Festival (Willowdale Steeplechase, 101 East Street Road, Kennett Square, <a id=\"OWAddae778f-5576-9d73-58e4-df9ab1268730\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/ccballoonfest.com\/\">http:\/\/ccballoonfest.com<\/a>) which runs from June 13-15.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">It\u2019s always an awe-inspiring sight when a large hot air balloon\u00a0floats untethered through the air.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Watching one balloon\u00a0floating above you is a lot of fun. Watching more than 20 huge, multi-colored balloons filling the airspace over your head counts as a thrilling experience.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Activity at the Balloon\u00a0Festival begins on June 13 with the gates opening to the public at 4 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Festivities scheduled for all three days are \u201cWine &amp; Beer Garden,\u201d \u201cKids\u2019 Zone,\u201d \u201cBalloon\u00a0Launch\u201d and a \u201cBalloon\u00a0Glow.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">During the glow, balloons inflate at dusk, remain tethered, and light their burners in a synchronized fashion.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Other fun activities at this year\u2019s festival are tethered balloon\u00a0rides, karate demonstrations, craft and food vendors and a children\u2019s area featuring kid-friendly attractions.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">All hot air balloon related events are weather permitting. Hot air balloons cannot fly or even be inflated in excessive wind conditions, rain or thunderstorms. As always, safety for the pilots, passengers and festival goers is always a priority.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Admission to the festival is $30 for adults and $10 for children (ages 6-12).<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Attendees can purchase tickets for hot air balloon\u00a0rides and tethered balloon\u00a0rides for an additional fee.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">\n<div id=\"attachment_20637\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-20637\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-20637\" src=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/st.-joes-350x175.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"175\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-20637\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Community Festival<\/p><\/div>\n<p>From June 17-21, the sights, sounds and smells of a summertime fair will be filling the air in Downingtown when Saint Joseph Church (338 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, 610-269-8294, <a id=\"OWA81c018ee-3afe-e191-7f8b-7b164e131bc9\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stjoesfestival.com\/\">www.stjoesfestival.com<\/a>) hosts its 18th annual \u201cCommunity Festival.\u201d<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The event will feature all the traditional things associated with a summer festival \u2014 including exciting rides and amusement games.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There will also be food concessions with all the standard festival fare \u2014 cotton candy, ice cream, hot dogs, hamburgers, popcorn, corn dogs, soft pretzels and cheese fries along with mozzarella sticks, tomato pie and hot roast beef sandwiches.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The roster of music acts includes De La Salle String Band, Downingtown School of Rock, Yesterday\u2019s News Band, Tinn Angel and the Red Satins.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Downingtown Summer Jam (Kerr Park, 28 East Pennsylvania Avenue, Downingtown, <a id=\"OWA4cf64c3f-4f36-db86-19f4-4afc4363bade\" class=\"OWAAutoLink\" href=\"http:\/\/downingtownmainstreet.com\/\">downingtownmainstreet.com<\/a>) will fill the air with music on June 14 from 4-9 p.m.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">This family-friendly community concert, which is presented by Downingtown Main Street Association, features free admission and is open to the public.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Guests can listen to free live music while enjoying delicious food plus drinks from the beer garden \u2014 all held in the field next to the gazebo in Kerr Park.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">No outside alcohol or food is permitted, but \u201cbring your own water\u201d is encouraged.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Live music will be provided by opening act\u00a0Cordelia Blue and headlining act The Flying Komorowski Brothers.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Participating food trucks will Cousins Maine Lobster,\u00a0The Munchy Machine,\u00a0Shimpy\u2019s BBQ,\u00a0Bop Truck,\u00a0Mini Millie\u2019s Pasta, The Farmhouse Coffee &amp; It also is an educational experience with a focus each year on a different cultural region in Italy.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Over the past several years, the festival has focused on the art, architecture, food, and traditions of various regions.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">It will celebrate all that makes Italy and the Italian lifestyle the envy of much of the world.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There will be culinary highlights from various regions at the cafes and vendor locations, handcrafted Italian home decor items and Italian classical and contemporary music at concerts in the church and on the festival\u2019s entertainment stages.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">The St. Anthony\u2019s Festival has become famous for its array of tasty Italian food.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Visitors will be able to enjoy such taste treats as spezzato, pizza, sausage and peppers, panzarotti, porkette, clams and spaghetti, pasta fagioli, pizza frita, meatball sandwiches, mozzarella sticks, calamari rings, spaghetti dinners and fresh espresso and cappuccino.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">There is a $7 admission fee for all visitors ages 14-61. Morris acted as a farmer, shipowner, miller, iron master, shop owner, and owner of the mill now known as Mather Mill. Hope Lodge is an excellent example of early Georgian architecture, and it is possible that Edmund Woolley, architect of Independence Hall, offered advice in building. Samuel Morris owned the estate until his death in 1770.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Visitors can participate by watching a short film and then taking a tour. Guided tours of the mansion will depart at 1 and 2:30 p.m.<\/div>\n<div class=\"elementToProof\">Tour admission is\u00a0$8 for adults, $5 for seniors (age 65+) and for youth ages 6-17, and free for children under 5.
