Chester County United Way sponsored the Social Impact Initiative category at the inaugural<\/span> LionCage<\/span> Pitch<\/span> Competition<\/span> held<\/span> on<\/span> Nov.<\/span> 8<\/span>.<\/span> LionCage,<\/span> a<\/span> new<\/span> event<\/span> developed<\/span> by<\/span> Invent <\/span>Penn<\/span> State<\/span> LaunchBox<\/span> programs<\/span> at<\/span> Brandywine<\/span> and<\/span> Great<\/span> Valley<\/span> and<\/span> the<\/span> Ideas<\/span> x<\/span> Innovation<\/span> Network<\/span> (i2n), <\/span>brought together 30 teams of visionaries and entrepreneurs to share their business and community ideas before a panel of judges and an audience of more than 150 attendees.<\/p>\n

Chester<\/span> County<\/span> United<\/span> Way\u2019s<\/span> sponsorship<\/span> of<\/span> the<\/span> Social<\/span> Impact<\/span> Initiative<\/span> category<\/span> reflects<\/span> their<\/span> commitment <\/span>to empowering nonprofits and social entrepreneurs who are creating solutions to pressing community challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

The<\/span> Community<\/span> Grocer<\/span> received<\/span> First<\/span> Place<\/span> in<\/span> the<\/span> Social<\/span> Impact<\/span> Initiative<\/span> category<\/span> and<\/span> went<\/span> on<\/span> to<\/span> earn<\/span> the <\/span>$10,000<\/span> Best<\/span> in<\/span> Show<\/span> Award.<\/span> This<\/span> groundbreaking<\/span> nonprofit<\/span> is<\/span> reinventing<\/span> nutritional<\/span> assistance<\/span> and<\/span> making it<\/span> easier<\/span> for<\/span> all<\/span> community<\/span> members,<\/span> including<\/span> SNAP<\/span> recipients,<\/span> to<\/span> access<\/span> hot,<\/span> healthy<\/span> meals.<\/span> Honorable <\/span>Mention for Social Impact went to B\u0101KIT Box, a culturally inspired baking kit company that empowers families<\/span> to<\/span> explore<\/span> global<\/span> cultures<\/span> through<\/span> recipes,<\/span> hands-on<\/span> STEM<\/span> activities,<\/span> and<\/span> educational<\/span> resources.<\/span><\/p>\n
