{"id":2960,"date":"2014-10-20T14:45:24","date_gmt":"2014-10-20T18:45:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/?p=2960"},"modified":"2014-10-20T14:45:24","modified_gmt":"2014-10-20T18:45:24","slug":"letter-voters-being-disenfranchised-in-chester-county","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/?p=2960","title":{"rendered":"Letter: voters being disenfranchised in Chester County"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>To the Editor,<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Letters1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-964595\" style=\"margin: 4px;\" alt=\"Letters1\" src=\"http:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/Letters1.jpg\" width=\"140\" height=\"98\" \/><\/a>Cuyler Walker, the winner of the Republican primary for the 158th State House of Representatives, withdrew his name more than a month after the deadline for withdrawing had passed.\u00a0 He cited personal reasons.\u00a0 A Republican Commonwealth Court judge allowed this even though the election laws in Pennsylvania are clear on the matter.\u00a0 The runner up in that primary was NOT chosen by the Republican party to replace the unlawful withdrawal of Cuyler Walker.\u00a0 The Republican incumbent, who emphatically stated previously that he would retire at the end of 2014, was chosen (but not unanimously).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Also,\u00a0 two of the three current Chester County commissioners are running for office in this election and had to\u00a0 recuse themselves from the Board of Elections.\u00a0 And, even though one commissioner\u00a0 was a Republican and one a Democrat, the Republican court appointed two Republicans to replace them &#8211;
