{"id":29171,"date":"2024-02-22T08:35:19","date_gmt":"2024-02-22T13:35:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/?p=29171"},"modified":"2024-02-22T08:35:21","modified_gmt":"2024-02-22T13:35:21","slug":"chesco-government-awarded-top-honor-for-employee-well-being","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/?p=29171","title":{"rendered":"Chesco government awarded top honor for employee well-being"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"attachment_19227\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-19227\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-19227\" src=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/American-Heart-Month-Proclamation-Presentation.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"219\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-19227\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Chester County Commissioners presented an American Heart Month proclamation at last week\u2019s public meeting to Chester County\u2019s Human Resources Director Michelle Gallo (second left) and Employee Learning and Development Manager Marcy Curth (center), who oversees Chester County Government\u2019s staff wellness program.<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the second consecutive year, the American Heart Association (AHA) awarded Chester County Government a Platinum recognition for \u201cits commitment to employee health and well-being.\u201d The County achieved Platinum status \u2013 the highest \u2013 on the AHA\u2019s <em>Workforce Well-Being Scorecard<\/em> by scoring in the top eight percent of 492 participating organizations nationwide.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Receiving news of the award, Chester County Commissioners\u2019 Chair Josh Maxwell said, \u201cNational recognition that values the importance of our employees\u2019 physical and mental health is a tremendous accomplishment that we are very proud of. Chester County Government employs about 2,600 people, and their well-being directly impacts the overall health of our organization.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe will continue to support the health of our workforce by listening to our employees, exploring new wellness options, and partnering with them to live healthy lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The AHA developed the <em>Workforce Well-Being Scorecard<\/em> in collaboration with industry experts to help employers build a science-backed, employee-centric culture of health and well-being. Creating a culture of health in the workplace is vital to employee engagement, retention, and productivity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">County Commissioner Marion Moskowitz said, \u201cThe County started its <em>Wellness Program<\/em> \u2013 which includes incentives, rewards, and classes \u2013 in 2007, and it has grown to where 75 percent of employees participate today. In addition to improving the well-being of our staff, the proven success of our wellness program helps to control the ever-increasing cost of healthcare benefits.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In earning the Platinum status, the AHA particularly noted the County\u2019s excellence in its walking and financial wellness programs.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">County Commissioner Eric Roe added, \u201cWe thank our Human Resources staff for their continued dedication to building a culture of health and well-being for all our employees.
