Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the organizers initially decided to change it from a \u201cwalk around\u201d event to a \u201cdrive through\u201d event. Now, there has been more alterations.<\/p>\n<p>The following message is posted on the Chadds Ford Historical Society\u2019s website:<\/p>\n<p>After much feedback from the community, staff and Board, it has been decided to change the decision of a \u201cDrive Thru\u201d to a \u201cVirtual Pumpkin Carve,\u201d This will now allow for anyone to participate in this wonderful event.<\/p>\n<p>Those that are local or distant, that may have been nervous to carve in front of a crowd or would like to work in the comfort of their home, can all participate in groups of any size.\u00a0 <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The 2020 \u201cVirtual Pumpkin Carve\u201d event is free.\u00a0All we ask is that carvers send their photos and list of carvers directly to\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:cfpumpkincarve@gmail.com\"><strong><em>cfpumpkincarve@gmail.com<\/em><\/strong><\/a>.\u00a0 You can be as creative as you want with props and backdrops. We are hoping that 2021 will allow us to be back to our regular layout, but for now, join us in keeping the Chadds Ford Historical Society alive.<\/p>\n<p>On October 17, visitors to Sugartown (690 Sugartown Road, Malvern, <a href=\"http:\/\/historicsugartown.org\/events\"><strong><em>http:\/\/historicsugartown.org\/events<\/em><\/strong><\/a>) will have the opportunity to see Sugartown during special \u201cWeekend Guided Tour.\u201d Guides will lead visitors through the village.<\/p>\n<p>Tours last approximately one hour and 30 minutes and include a visit to the General Store and School Room exhibits, the Carriage Museum; c.1805 Garrett House, Book Bindery and Bank Barn.<\/p>\n<p>Because of the historic nature of the property, there is limited wheelchair accessibility in some of the buildings and some difficult terrain.<\/p>\n<p>The tour starts at 11 a.m. Advanced ticket purchase is required, and all visitors must follow safety guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>HEALTH PRECAUTIONS<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All tickets must be purchased online in advance to limit physical contact. Unfortunately, this means we are unable to accommodate walk-in visitors at this time.<\/li>\n<li>Groups are limited to 5 persons maximum to allow for social distancing.<\/li>\n<li>For everyone\u2019s safety, all tour participants are required to wear a mask throughout their visit. Anyone refusing to wear a mask will not be allowed to join the tour and will be offered a refund.<\/li>\n<li>All tour participants must abide by social distancing procedures.<\/li>\n<li>For the safety of our visitors and staff, any participant with visible signs of sickness (cough, etc.) will not be allowed to join the tour and will be given a refund.\u00a0Please stay home if you are sick.<\/li>\n<li>The gift shop will be closed.<\/li>\n<li>Visitors will have very limited access to restrooms on-site. Please plan accordingly.<\/li>\n<li>Certain spaces may be inaccessible to ensure proper social distancing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Admission is $9 Adults, $8 Seniors, and $7 Students (ages 3\u201317 years). Children ages 2 and younger are admitted for free.<\/p>\n<p>The tour will also be offered on October 24 and 31 and November 7 beginning at 11 a.m. each day.<\/p>\n<p>Trunk-or-Treat\u201d and \u201cSpooky Family Movie Night\u201d on October 17.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/penn-township-spooky-movie.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12710 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/penn-township-spooky-movie-188x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"188\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>The \u201cPenn Township Trunk-or-Treat\u201d will be held October 17 at Penn Township Park (260 Lewis Road., West Grove, <a href=\"http:\/\/penntownship.us\/?fbclid=IwAR0rlXQxO7szaw8o2aJEmv04uN1ZFp4j-5s3zrMXSeGZr0R-XO6aGRdCamY\"><strong><em>penntownship.us<\/em><\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>The event, which is sponsored by Penn Township, will run from 2-4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Masks and face coverings\u00a0are mandatory. Halloween masks do not count as appropriate face coverings.<\/p>\n<p>The event will feature a trunk-or-treat,\u00a0socially distant character meet &amp; greet with Spiderman and Ariel, games,\u00a0pumpkin painting contest\u00a0and more.<\/p>\n<p>We will be taking great care to make this event as safe as possible. For this reason, the event details are not set in stone and are subject to change.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cSpooky Family Drive-In Movie Night,\u201d which features the film \u201cHocus Pocus\u201d is scheduled for October 17 at Penn Township Sports Park (355 N. Jennersville Road, West Grove).<\/p>\n<p>Parking will open at\u00a05 p.m. Movie will begin at sunset (estimating around 6:30 p.m.). Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Masks and face coverings\u00a0are mandatory.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the showing of \u201cHocus Pocus,\u201d the evening will consist of food available for purchase from 22 BBQ and Sweet Magnolia Bakery Truck. Kona Ice of Southern Chester County will be handing out free ice while supplies last. Tickets for the regular ghost tours are $15. The event is limited to people 10 and older. No pets are allowed.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1974 the Colonial Pennsylvania Plantation has given visitors a glimpse of 18th- century Pennsylvania farm life. Visiting the Plantation is an educational experience that is unique and unforgettable \u2013 and even a little scary on special nights.<\/p>\n<p>The Colonial Plantation, one of the most haunted properties in Delaware County, invites you to an evening of strange sounds, squeaky doors, and ghostly stories. Relive 300 years of the area&#8217;s most mysterious, scary and true tales of terror. Start by following the torch lit path and discover the strange and inexplicable ways that colonists treated their dead.<\/p>\n<p>For the safety of visitors, the staff will be holding this event entirely outdoors, and tours will be limited to 10-12 individuals per time slot. Face masks covering the nose and mouth are required at all times. A face shield is not an acceptable substitute. This event will run rain or shine.<\/p>\n<p>The Hagley Craft Fair is known for being one of the oldest and best annual craft events in the Brandywine Valley. Celebrating its 41st anniversary this year, the event will be held October 17 at Hagley Museum and Library (Buck Road East entrance via Route 100, Wilmington, Delaware, 302-658-2400, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hagley.org\/\">www.hagley.org<\/a>).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12712\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/hagley-craft-fair.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12712\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12712\" src=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/hagley-craft-fair-350x233.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"233\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12712\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hagley Craft Fair<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The Hagley Craft Fair is now a one-day event, with all vendors outdoors. This event has received State of Delaware approval based on their Covid-19 guidelines for events. This marketplace brings talented artisans from the Mid-Atlantic area to display and sell fine arts, crafts, and gourmet items. This premier show will feature works in wood, pottery, jewelry, fibers, metal, and other media and includes a specialty food market.<\/p>\n<p>The Craft Fair will run from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $5.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHayrides at Hagley 2020\u201d will be held on October 17, 18, 24, 25 and 31 starting at the Visitor Center at 11 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors can take a hayride along the Brandywine Creek to experience the beautiful fall foliage in the Powder Yard. They will also be able to create fall-themed crafts, and get at up-close look at a gunpowder explosion, a roll mill in action, and working 19th-century machines.<\/p>\n<p>Hagley\u2019s health safety regulations are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reservations must be made upon arrival. Advance\u00a0reservations are not accepted for this event.<\/li>\n<li>Please allow one person in your party\u00a0to reserve a hayride inside the Hagley Store. Please enter through the entrance on the left-hand side.<\/li>\n<li>Maximum party size is 10 people.<\/li>\n<li>Fee for reserving a wagon is $5 for Hagley members and $10 for non-members\u00a0(flat fee, not per number of riders). The event will be this weekend \u2013 with a difference. It will not be the usual two-day live show at Merchants Square Mall in Allentown.<\/p>\n<p>On October 16-18, the weekend the in-person show was originally scheduled for, the promoters will hold a virtual Philly Non-Sports Card Show with six Card Talk panels. Buy an \u201cAll Access Pass\u201d and gain admission (as space permits) and also receive two exclusive red-border Philly Show cards.<\/p>\n<p>There are two basic categories of trading cards &#8212; sports cards and non-sports cards. Sports cards depict athletes at all levels. Non-sport cards offer so much more. There are card sets dealing with music, movies, politics, nature, pop culture and history.<\/p>\n<p>For more than a century, non-sport trading cards have documented trends in pop culture \u2013 providing people with history lessons provided by small, rectangular pieces of cardboard.<\/p>\n<p>Twice each year, collectors from across the country come together in eastern Pennsylvania for this very special event. Now in its 34th year, the event is the oldest show of its kind in the country. This weekend\u2019s event is the 73rd edition of the show.<\/p>\n<p>The 1696\u00a0Thomas Massey House\u00a0(Lawrence Road, Broomall, 610-353-3644, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thomasmasseyhouse.org\/\">http:\/\/www.thomasmasseyhouse.org<\/a>) will be celebrating autumn with its Harvest Day Festival on October 17. The free festival features demonstrations of a variety of colonial crafts by period re-enactors and other special activities from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors will be able to learn how to make apple butter, churn butter and make candles. There will be a working walk-in fireplace as well as a working blacksmith shop.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/aids-walk.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12714 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/aids-walk-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>The 34th Annual AIDS Walk Philly and AIDS Run Philly (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.aidswalkphilly.org\/\">http:\/\/www.aidswalkphilly.org<\/a>) will be held October 18 \u2013 virtually.<\/p>\n<p>This year Walkers will raise awareness by participating at home. While staying safely socially distanced, walkers will unite on October 18 by going the 5K distance in their neighborhoods.<\/p>\n<p>At 8 a.m. on October 18 there will be an on-line broadcast\u202fwith messages from AIDS Fund, our partner organizations,\u202fspecial guests\u202fand information about the current state of HIV prevention, care, and treatment in our community. Following the\u202fbroadcast,\u202fthe promoters will be raising awareness about HIV throughout the region with people walking in their neighborhoods while proudly wearing their AIDS Walk Philly 2020 t-shirts.<\/p>\n<p>The HIV\/AIDS epidemic has evolved over the last 30 years, so AIDS Fund is evolving its mission to create an even greater impact on the lives of those living with HIV disease in our community. Beginning in 2017, AIDS Fund began providing support to the most vulnerable people in our community living with HIV by providing emergency financial assistance for critical life needs.<\/p>\n<p>Advances in treatment and new prevention strategies have now made \u201cGetting to Zero\u201d<strong> &#8212; <\/strong>zero new infections, zero deaths, zero stigma&#8211; an achievable goal.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/NIGHT-OF-LIGHTS.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-12715\" src=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/NIGHT-OF-LIGHTS-232x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"232\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a>Now through October 25, Chestnut Hill (Germantown Avenue, Chestnut Hill, <a href=\"https:\/\/chestnuthillpa.com\/\">https:\/\/chestnuthillpa.com<\/a>) is presenting \u201cNight of Lights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Visitors can explore Chestnut Hill after the sun goes down when Germantown Avenue morphs into an interactive exhibition of local history and architecture for\u00a0\u201cNight of Lights.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s \u201cNight of Lights\u201d will take the form of an extended public art installation activating Germantown Avenue and transforming Chestnut Hill\u2019s familiar main street into an interactive exhibition of local history and architecture.<\/p>\n<p>Using the commercial corridor as a canvas for sharing and interpreting multiple layers of neighborhood history, \u201cNight of Lights\u201d is a true participatory, community-based event, offering visitors and long-time residents a free and accessible opportunity to discover the history of the neighborhood, while becoming active participants in the stories being told.<\/p>\n<p>Over two and half weeks in October, historical images from the\u00a0Chestnut Hill Conservancy\u2019s Archives will be projected through storefront windows along Germantown Avenue, while neighboring historic buildings will be illuminated with colored lights. An expanded virtual experience\u2014accessible on site and at home\u2014will allow for socially distanced explorations of community history, while offering a platform for the attendees to share their own stories.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12716\" style=\"width: 360px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/wc-rr.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12716\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-12716\" src=\"https:\/\/downingtowntimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/wc-rr-350x178.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"350\" height=\"178\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12716\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The West Chester Railroad<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The West Chester Railroad (Market Street Station, West Chester, 610-430-2233, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.westchesterrr.net\/\">www.westchesterrr.net<\/a>) is running its \u201cTrick or Treat Special\u201d on October 17, 18, 24 and 25 at noon and 2 p.m. each day<\/p>\n<p>Riders on the family friendly 90-minute Halloween train ride are invited to wear their favorite costumes and ride the heated train to enjoy the beautiful Chester Creek Valley in all of its fall splendor.<\/p>\n<p>During the 20-minute stop at the historic Glen Mills station, passengers can disembark and explore the historic station and our picnic grove. Passengers can also collect a few treats while at the station.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for children (ages 2-12).<\/p>\n<p>The popular tourist rail line is also running its \u201cFall Foliage Express\u201d trains on November 1 and 8. Trains depart at noon and 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The round-trip train ride travels to the village of Glen Mills and back and lasts for 90 minutes. During the brief layover in Glen Mills, riders can have a snack in the railroad\u2019s picnic grove along the Chester Creek.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $17 for adults, $15 for children ages 2-12 and free for kids under two.<\/p>\n<p>The New Hope &amp; Ivyland Railroad (32 West Bridge St, New Hope, 215- 862-2332, <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.newhoperailroad.com\/\">www.newhoperailroad.com<\/a>) <\/em><\/strong>offers a two-and-one-half hour, 35-mile roundtrip ride on its \u201cFall Foliage Trains\u201d now through November 1. Every weekend, the rail line in Bucks County will operate regularly scheduled round trip trains out of New Hope Station and SEPTA\u2019s Warminster station.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s \u201cAll Aboard\u201d for a day of history, leaf-peeping, and excitement. Guests can take a peaceful ride on the rail line\u2019s beautifully restored railroad cars through the woods and hills of historic Bucks County. This 14-mile round-trip excursion offers riders a unique way to experience nature\u2019s burst of colors. Riders also frequently spot deer, foxes and wild turkeys among the colorful autumn landscapes.<\/p>\n<p>Ticket prices start at $45.99.<\/p>\n<p>The Wilmington &amp; Western Railroad (2201 Newport Gap Pike, Wilmington, Delaware, <a href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.wwrr.com%2F&amp;data=02%7C01%7C%7C36baacff42684861ee3308d706ec514b%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C636985484528573221&amp;sdata=tf2Ia%2Flvs2OhQ8Al8yAVKghVfaT4LDcKSs%2FvpXaK6qA%3D&amp;reserved=0\">www.wwrr.com<\/a>) is back up and running with the Mount Cuba Meteor excursion.<\/p>\n<p>You can take a leisurely 1.5-hour round-trip ride up the Red Clay Valley to the Mt. Cuba Picnic Grove, where you\u2019ll enjoy a 30-minute layover to have a picnic or simply admire the natural surroundings. The Mt. Cuba Meteor excursion is a relaxing way to spend an afternoon outside with family or friends.<\/p>\n<p>This event is powered by one of the railroad\u2019s historic first-generation diesel locomotives.<\/p>\n<p>The excursions are scheduled for weekends in October and November.<\/p>\n<p>Ticket prices are $15 for adults, $14 for seniors, and $13 for children (ages 2-12).<\/p>\n<p>Another activity in Delaware worthy of interest can be found in Odessa.<\/p>\n<p>The Historic Odessa Foundation (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.historicodessa.org\/\">www.historicodessa.org<\/a>) is presenting the photography exhibit, \u201cA Wealth of Nature: Photographs by Jane Mruk,\u201d now through November 1 in the Foundation\u2019s Visitors Center gallery (201 Main Street, Odessa).<\/p>\n<p>Since the age of eight, when her passion for photography was ignited, professional photographer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/eur05.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fjanemruk.com%2Findex.asp&amp;data=02%7C01%7C%7C26010e59294549b24c3608d852b33600%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435aaaaaaaaaaaa%7C1%7C0%7C637350276944611220&amp;sdata=9zO3EwsJVCojQ%2FTVIHB18C8FVLzZ7gI1PF37OC9DF0Y%3D&amp;reserved=0\">Jane Mruk<\/a>, has honed her art and developed a distinctive eye for noticing and capturing the beauty in nature.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibit will include approximately 40 of her photographs. Ranging in size and subject matter, the photographs will focus on local scenes of the historic town of Odessa, where she has resided for the past 15 years. Also featured will be nature studies of Delaware\u2019s flora and fauna.<\/p>\n<p>A graduate of the Antonelli Institute of Graphic Design &amp; Photography (now part of Harcum College), Mruk spent her early professional career as a graphic designer. After moving to Odessa, she established her own graphic design and photography business. She also is a frequent contributor to Outdoor Delaware magazine.<\/p>\n<p>The Odessa gallery will concentrate on 18th- and 19th-century furniture, paintings and associated accessories, with an emphasis on Delaware material.<\/p>\n<p>The Historic Houses of Odessa were operated by Winterthur from 1958-2003. The Historic Odessa Foundation opened to the public in December of 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Odessa is a National Registered Historic District and is also home to a National Historic Landmark and two National Parks Service Network to Freedom Sites. For the safety of our guests, a hand sanitizing station will be close by for visitors to use afterward.<\/p>\n<p>As individuals interact with the kiosk, light\u00a0patterns and color palettes will change, creating a living tapestry throughout the Park. Now, it has become even spookier with its new \u201cNight Tour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Eastern State\u00a0Penitentiary\u00a0was once the most famous and expensive prison in the world, but stands today in ruin, a haunting world of crumbling cellblocks and empty guard towers.<\/p>\n<p>Known for its grand architecture and strict discipline, this was the world&#8217;s first true &#8220;penitentiary,&#8221; a prison designed to inspire penitence, or true regret, in the hearts of prisoners.<\/p>\n<p>At night, the cellblocks fall into darkness and the penitentiary takes on a different energy &#8212; its imposing architecture emphasized by dramatic lighting that makes its quiet stillness even more striking.<\/p>\n<p>Many of the programs available during the day are also offered at night, including \u201cThe Voices of Eastern State\u201d Audio Tour, award-winning exhibits, and artist installations.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, some new activities will be available exclusively for\u00a0the \u201cNight Tour,\u201d\u00a0including\u00a0two large-scale video projections on the interior of the penitentiary\u2019s 30-foot-high perimeter walls.<\/p>\n<p>A silent film shot at Eastern State Penitentiary in 1929, with flickering images of prisoners in the mess halls and officers patrolling the corridors, will play in the Cellblock 3 courtyard. In the Cellblock 7 courtyard, 20 animated short films that were created by incarcerated artists for Eastern State\u2019s 2019 project\u00a0Hidden Lives Illuminated\u00a0will also be on view.<\/p>\n<p>The lighting design for\u00a0Night Tours\u00a0will highlight the prison\u2019s iconic, gothic architecture. This event is billed as an \u201cauthentic experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fort Mifflin, which was originally called\u00a0Fort Island Battery,\u00a0was commissioned in 1771. It was also known as\u00a0Mud Island Fort because it sits on Mud Island (also known as Deep Water Island) on the Delaware River near the Philadelphia International Airport. During the American Revolutionary War, the British Army bombarded and captured the fort as part of their conquest of Philadelphia in autumn 1777.<\/p>\n<p>During the siege, 400 American soldiers held off more than 2,000 British troops and over 250\u00a0ships that had been responsible for launching an endless barrage of cannonballs into the fort. After five days of holding off the British, the American troops evacuated the fort after having successfully denied the British Navy free use of the Delaware River.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children (12 and under).<\/p>\n<p>Pennhurst Asylum (100 Commonwealth Drive, Spring City, 484-866-8964, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pennhurstasylum.com\/\">www.pennhurstasylum.com<\/a>), which is open through October 31, is on the site of a former mental asylum which has been shuttered for over a quarter of a century.<\/p>\n<p>It has been transformed into a haunted attraction with huge sets, detailed rooms and live actors. Visitors can vote for their favorite scarecrows in the \u201cFairy Tale \u2019Crows\u201d theme to determine which \u201c\u2019crows\u201d will be the top five prize winners.<\/p>\n<p>New this year at Morris Arboretum will be the \u201cLighted Lantern Halloween Walk and Ghostly Gathering.\u201d The \u201cGhostly Gathering at Morris ArBOOretum\u201d is a nighttime event that is safe, fun, and just a little spooky.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors will be able to experience the Arboretum by night on October 30 and 31 from 5-8 p.m. each night. They are encouraged to come costumed and ready for fun at our first-ever Halloween nighttime event. They will get a trick-or-treat bag to fill as they hear spooky stories, play games, and see the Fairytale Scarecrows all lit up at night.<\/p>\n<p>Light snacks and hot drinks will be available for purchase. Attractions include Scarecrow Street\u00a0After Dark, District 6 Unearthed, Lady of the Lake Cemetery\u00a0and Clown Town.<\/p>\n<p>Linvilla Orchards (137 West Knowlton Road, Media, 610-876-7116,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.linvilla.com\/\">www.linvilla.com<\/a>) is already hosting Pumpkinland, its annual autumn-themed interactive event.<\/p>\n<p>Pumpkinland is open from mid-September through early November and takes center stage at Linvilla Orchards. Larger than life figures and scarecrows illustrate the legends and lore of the harvest season, featuring local history and some of the many stories of pumpkins and apples.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors will see piles of pumpkins in all colors, shapes and sizes more than 100 tons of pumpkins on display.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a huge selection of straw bales, corn shocks, toys and fall decorations of all kinds.<\/p>\n<p>This year the site\u2019s offerings have changed a bit to ensure the safety of our customers and staff.<\/p>\n<p>Guests will still be able to enjoy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linvilla.com\/family-fun\/hayrides\">hayrides\u00a0<\/a>and train rides, test their navigation skills in the straw bale and cornfield mazes, pick their own fall apples, grab some candy and caramel apples, and see the Linvilla jack-o-lantern exhibit.<\/p>\n<p>This year, timed tickets will be required for Linvilla\u2019s Autumn Moon, Harvest and Witch\u2019s Hayrides.\u00a0Timed tickets allow the staff to safely manage the numbers of visitors throughout the day.<\/p>\n<p>For sanitary reasons, face boards will not be available for photos this fall, and the playground will be closed for the foreseeable future.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s time to welcome autumn and one of the best ways to do this is by checking out the corn mazes at Ramsey\u2019s Farm (Ramsey Road, Wilmington, Delaware, 302-477-1499, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ramseysfarm.com\/\">www.ramseysfarm.com<\/a>). The farm\u2019s event season lists September 26 as 2020\u2019s \u201cOpening Day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Corn mazes, along with hayrides, a pumpkin patch and scarecrows, will be featured at Ramsey\u2019s Farm, which is located in northern Delaware on Route 92 just south of the Pennsylvania-Delaware state line. The new season runs on weekends now through October 31.<\/p>\n<p>Ramsey\u2019s \u201cPumpkin Patch\u201d has been in operation since 1995 and the farm\u2019s varied mazes have been delighting and baffling visitors who return each year for the popular annual event. The owners of Ramsey\u2019s Farm raise pumpkins, gourds, ornamental corn, popcorn, feed corn and hay.<\/p>\n<p>The farm\u2019s pumpkin field stretches over 12 acres and yields approximately 20,000 pumpkins each season. Hayrides around the farm will be offered from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Visitors will be able to shop for pumpkins and other items at the farm store. There will also be hot food and beverages available for purchase.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $8 for the corn maze, $5 for the sorghum maze, $3 for the hay maze, $3 for pumpkin painting and $3 for a hayride.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHurricane Hill Farm Maze\u201d (Baldwin\u2019s Farm, 704 East Reeceville Road, Coatesville, 610-384-6952, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hhfmaze.com\/\">www.hhfmaze.com<\/a>) will be open Saturdays and Sundays until October 31.<\/p>\n<p>Fall is different at the farm this year.<\/p>\n<p>This season, Hurricane Hill will offer a hayride to the pumpkin patch and other attractions for the children. \u00a0To manage the number of guests attending, they will only be offering timed tickets. No tickets will be sold at the farm this year.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets will be offered in time slots of 10 a.m. noon, 2 and 4 p.m. The farm will close at 6 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>Included with your admission ticket ($9.50 per person includes on-line ticketing fees) are the following:<\/p>\n<p>Hayride to the Pumpkin Patch. \u00a0Everyone purchasing a ticket will receive a free small pumpkin. You may also walk to the Pumpkin Patch via the Farm Trail if you prefer to not take the hayride. The Corn Maze is not open this year.<\/p>\n<p>Cherry Crest Adventure Farm (150 Cherry Hill Road, Ronks, 717-687-6843, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cherrycrestfarm.com\/\">www.cherrycrestfarm.com<\/a>) has opened its popular annual \u201cFlashlight Maze\u201d and will keep it open every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night through November 7. Cherry Crest Adventure Farm has reserved several weekends during the autumn months for Flashlight Maze.<\/p>\n<p>This special activity allows visitors to experience the Amazing Maize Maze in total darkness. All you need are flashlights and a few friends.<\/p>\n<p>The Flashlight Maze is a nice, non-scary, Halloween alternative that has appeal for people of all ages. The Flashlight Maze, which has a $12 admission fee, is open from 6:30-10 p.m. with the last entrance into the Maze at 9 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The main attraction is Cherry Crest\u2019s \u201cAmazing Maize Maze,\u201d which is billed as \u201cthe world\u2019s most dynamic and interactive corn maze.\u201d It is a five-acre corn maze with over two-and-one-half miles of paths, scenic bridges, and clues.<\/p>\n<p>Participants can walk at their own pace as they encounter the \u201cKernels of Knowledge\u201d along with a variety of clues, tunnel slides, and watering stations. They can also check out a bird\u2019s eye view from the two bridges and watch everyone\u2019s flags waving high above the corn.<\/p>\n<p>The average time to complete the \u201cAmazing Maize Maze\u201d course is one hour. Ticket prices start at $19.<\/p>\n<p>The 2020 season for the Scarecrow Competition and Display at Peddler\u2019s Village (Routes 202 and 263, Lahaska, 215-794-4000,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.peddlersvillage.com\/\">www.peddlersvillage.com<\/a>) has already started. Hours are\u00a010 a.m.-6 p.m. both days.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors can stroll around the Village to see the Scarecrow Competition and Display, which showcases more than 100 creative and colorful scarecrows.
