Sheehan, President and CEO of the Brandywine Health Foundation detailed some of grants and how the foundation raised the funds.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast night the foundation\u2019s board of directors unanimously approved grants to four nonprofit agencies who were integrally involved in the success of the Strawberry Festival this year,&#8221; she said. &#8220;These four organizations provide key programs and services to the greater Coatesville area, and helped the foundation to raise $122,382 net through a record breaking 2014 Strawberry Festival.\u00a0 In addition, we are proud to encourage reading in our school district and to make books accessible for all young people through our summer reading grant to the Coatesville Public Area Library.\u00a0 This gift is in honor of the new Coatesville Area School District superintendent, Dr. Cathy Taschner, in recognition of her efforts to get the district back on track.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The organization offers congratulations to the following non-profit agencies receiving summer 2014 grants:<\/p>\n<p><b>Coatesville Area Public Library &#8211; $5,560<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.coatesvillearealibrary.org\/\">http:\/\/www.coatesvillearealibrary.org\/<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Coatesville Youth Initiative &#8211; $77,910<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.brandywinefoundation.org\/coatesville-youth-initiative\">http:\/\/www.brandywinefoundation.org\/coatesville-youth-initiative<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The Rotary Club of Coatesville &#8211; $21,177<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/rotaryclubofcoatesville.org\/\">http:\/\/rotaryclubofcoatesville.org\/<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\nThorndale Volunteer Fire Company &#8211; $17,735<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/thorndalefirecompany.com\/\">http:\/\/thorndalefirecompany.com\/<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Officials said that the Foundation is also pleased to provide an additional $2,660 grant to the Coatesville Area Public Library to purchase books for the Coatesville Area School District\u2019s summer reading program including 10 copies of each of the 36 middle school books and 10 copies of each of the two books required for 11<sup>th<\/sup> and 12<sup>th<\/sup> graders.<\/p>\n<p><b>\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Coatesville Library, Coatesville Youth Initiative, Rotary, Thorndale Fire Co, among recipients COATESVILLE \u2014 The Brandywine Health Foundation announced grants Tuesday totaling $125,042, bringing the foundation\u2019s giving since it began awarding grants in 2002 to over $12.3 million, including $1.5 million in grants in 2014.
