Family Concerts\u00a0feature some of the stellar artists on the orchestra\u2019s main series concerts while the Sound All Around Concerts, for children 3-5, are interactive programs with members of the orchestra, an orchestra news release said.<\/p>\n<p>Family Concerts offer a lively introduction to the Philadelphia Orchestra and make a great musical start to a day in Center City Philadelphia. Concerts run from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Pre-Concert Adventures are held before each concert at 10 a.m. in Perelman Theater and are free to all Family Concert ticket-holders, the release said.<span id=\"more-5569\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a style=\"color: #004276;\" href=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-28-at-5.21.37-PM.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-5578\" src=\"http:\/\/chescotimes.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Screen-Shot-2014-04-28-at-5.21.37-PM.jpg\" alt=\"Screen Shot 2014-04-28 at 5.21.37 PM\" width=\"226\" height=\"216\" \/><\/a>The Family Concert series will include\u00a0<strong>Halloween Fantastique<\/strong>(Oct. 25):\u00a0\u201cSpook\u201d-tacular classics and film soundtracks from Berlioz to Batman;\u00a0<strong>Christmas Kids Spectacular\u00a0<\/strong>(Dec. 13): Come-a-caroling with the Philadelphia Orchestra for a festive celebration; Oh<strong>, the Music You\u2019ll Hear!\u00a0<\/strong>(Feb. 7)<strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0Clever music and rhymes will be accompanied by Dr. Seuss\u2019s illustrations projected above the orchestra as well other playful pieces;\u00a0<strong>Make Your Own Musical Adventure\u00a0<\/strong>(March 28)<strong>:<\/strong>\u00a0Beloved by generations of families, host Charlotte Blake Alston takes the audience on an interactive journey of daring drama and scintillating sounds;\u00a0<strong>Peter and the Wolf\u00a0<\/strong>(April 18)<strong>:\u00a0<\/strong>Orchestra collaborator conductor St\u00e9phane Den\u00e8ve leads a program featuring\u00a0Sergei Prokofiev\u2019s\u00a0<em>Peter and the Wolf.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sound All Around Concerts feature members of the Philadelphia Orchestra and storyteller Blake Alston. Children listen to stories with music, sing songs, move to the music, pretend to play an instrument, and examine real instruments up close.\u00a0Each concert introduces the audience to a member of the string, woodwind, brass, or percussion family and the final concert features all of the musicians from the season playing together in an ensemble.\u00a0Sound All Around Concerts take place in the Academy of Music Ballroom and are held on Saturdays and Mondays at 10 a.m. and 11:15 a.m., the release said.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule will be\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Percussion\u00a0<\/strong>(Oct. 18 and 20)\u00a0with Angela Zator Nelson, associate principal timpani and percussion;\u00a0<strong>Brass<\/strong>\u00a0(Dec. 6 and 8,)<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>with Jeffry Kirschen, horn;\u00a0<strong>Strings\u00a0<\/strong>(Jan. 31 and Feb. 2)\u00a0with Amy Oshiro-Morales, violin;\u00a0<strong>Woodwinds\u00a0<\/strong>(Feb. 28 and March 2)\u00a0with Samuel Caviezel, associate principal clarinet; and\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Ensemble\u00a0<\/strong>(May 2 and 4)\u00a0with the musicians featured earlier in the year who demonstrate how their individual instruments all work together.<\/p>\n<p>Subscriptions for the 2014-15 Family Series and Sound All Around Series, which often sell out, are now on sale. Family Series subscription packages start at $36 and Sound All Around subscriptions are $42.50.
