St. Sen. says Chester County needs a friend in Gov.’s office<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

State Sen. Andy Dinniman announced Saturday that he will support Tom Wolf in the Democratic primary for governor.<\/p><\/div>\n

EAST BRADFORD \u2014 While there are four Democratic candidates for governor, Chester County\u2019s top elected Democrat made his choice plain Saturday, with state Sen. Andy Dinniman announcing his support for Tom Wolf.<\/p>\n

Dinniman and Wolf \u2014 who currently holds a large lead in the race for the Democratic nomination according to multiple polls \u2014 staged a joint event at the Stroud Preserve, among a series of events, the final one near the new train station in Coatesville \u2014 along with a couple of dozen supporters and local Democrats, even as wind and rain swept through the event. The location of the event, Dinniman said, was no accident. It has taken a partnership, he said, to preserve open space in the county.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith everyone working together, we were able to save this,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd the state played a key role, as did the county.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wolf, from York County, suggested that Chester County\u2019s open space preservation efforts are a model for other areas, and that he was amazed at how the residents of the county, elected officials and others came together to make it happen.<\/p>\n

\u201cwhen I look around here and see what you\u2019ve done, this is what I was talking about when I said we really have a lot to be proud of in Pennsylvania,\u201d Wolf said. \u201cThis is a beautiful state and every part of the state is beautiful, for very different reasons. I\u2019m from York County and we look in awe at \u2014 we still do \u2014 at what you did her in Chester County.\u201d<\/p>\n

As someone looking from outside the county, Wolf said he and others were impressed by the groundswell of support open space had \u2014 and continues to have \u2014 in the county.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat was remarkable to all of us in York County was how many people looked at this as something that just made sense,\u201d Wolf said. \u201cThis was not about politics, this was not about party, this was not about who wins and who loses. It was about how we make something good for all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wolf said that sometimes it takes someone seeing it from the outside to really appreciate an accomplishment.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat you\u2019ve done here is nothing short of remarkable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Dinnaman made it clear that he feels that for those efforts to continue, Chester County needs a change in the governor\u2019s mansion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe importance for us in Chester County is that at long last, in the governor\u2019s office, we\u2019ll have a friend,\u201d Dinniman said of Wolf. \u201cA friend of the environment, a friend of open space a friend of the Brandywine River. And that\u2019s what we need.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dinniman stressed that the next stop, in Coatesville, was the other half of open space preservation: urban redevelopment, to slow sprawl and that Wolf understood the connection \u2014 and would a strong advocate for both.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
