BHFCOATESVILLE — The Brandywine Health Foundation announced grants Tuesday totaling $125,042, bringing the foundation’s giving since it began awarding grants in 2002 to over $12.3 million, including $1.5 million in grants in 2014.

Frances M. Sheehan, President and CEO of the Brandywine Health Foundation detailed some of grants and how the foundation raised the funds.

“Last night the foundation’s board of directors unanimously approved grants to four nonprofit agencies who were integrally involved in the success of the Strawberry Festival this year,” she said. “These four organizations provide key programs and services to the greater Coatesville area, and helped the foundation to raise $122,382 net through a record breaking 2014 Strawberry Festival.  In addition, we are proud to encourage reading in our school district and to make books accessible for all young people through our summer reading grant to the Coatesville Public Area Library.  This gift is in honor of the new Coatesville Area School District superintendent, Dr. Cathy Taschner, in recognition of her efforts to get the district back on track.”

The organization offers congratulations to the following non-profit agencies receiving summer 2014 grants:
