EAST COVENTRY – A township boy died in a house fire early Sunday, State Police said.

The East Coventry and Ridge Fire Company responded to a report of a structure fire on Bulkwater Road at 5:34 a.m. Responders reported finding the structure fully involved with a report of one occupant — the child — still in the structure.

Firefighters were able to get the boy out of the house, but he succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

An investigation into the fire showed it to be accidental, with the fire starting in the kitchen.

East Coventry PD and Ridge were joined at the scene by Norco Fire Company, Kimberton Fire Company, Liberty Steam Company, MICU 84 and the Chester County Coroner’s Office.
